Cave Paintings - Chauvet Cave
This animation was inspired by the cave paintings of Chauvet cave in Southern France. The paintings themselves are approximately 30,000 years old and are among the earliest known human artworks. Check out this film for more information.
The animation was created by visual artist Daire Palmer who has worked on the History Speaks project. Daire used a garden tile to simulate the cave wall. He then used stop motion techniques and different coloured chalk to animate the scenes, line by line. It was created in 2013 to get the HistorySpeaks ball rolling.
